We here at The Cocktail Hour are dedicated to the idea that ordinary people should be able to make wonderful cocktails at home. Unfortunately, the system doesn't help people with that much, since when one goes into a liquor store one only sees rows and rows and multi-colored bottles filled with liquids of unknown quality. We would like to demystify what's in those bottles, and make it easier for you to mix drinks at home to rival the pros. We also want to help you see spirits as something that not only goes into a glass, but into food and even desserts.
Cocktails are one of the great adult joys in life, and so we try to concern ourselves with well-rounded adult matters, such as music, movies, cuisine and anything else that we feel relates to cocktails and the pleasure they bring. We champion home-made over commercial, artisanal over mass-market, and quality over quantity. We believe everyone, no matter where they live or who they are, has the right to pleasure, so long as the pursuit of it brings no harm or grief to others.
